of West Sweden- Monthly Meeting
October 18, 2016
Meeting was called to order by Simon Nelson at 6:30 pm. Members present
Scott Wilder and Glenn Meier, supervisors; Kevin Taylor, patrolman, Phyllis
Wilder, clerk, Brenda Tesch, treasurer. Mary
Jo Hacker, County Clerk Candidate, Carl Thomforda, Rural Insurance Agent.
The minutes to the September meeting were presented by the clerk. The board thanked the clerk for the report.
The financial statement for September
was presented by the treasurer. The board thanked her for the report.
Public input: Mary Jo Hacker,
candidate for Polk County Clerk introduced herself to the board.
Review insurance coverage: Carl explained our current coverage, will add the $9 debris
removal for buildings.
Employee report: Kevin
graded 120th Street, pickup sitting in middle of road, unable to
grade. Will need work on ditch in area due to water runoff. We have an 18”
culvert on 345th Avenue that is in need of repair or replacement.
Unfinished Business –
A. Salt/Sand
Bids: Sand, Kevin contacted Hopkins,
no return call, Trade River Outfitters quoted sand at $5.50 per ton. Will go with Burnett County for salt.
B. Update on road repairs:
Received quote from Monarch to repair 130th Street,
motion made by Simon and seconded by Glenn to accept the $2198.46 bid for
repairs, carried. Blacktopping to be completed on Old Cty Rd W and shouldering
on Clam Falls Drive and Cty Road
W.
C. Adopt resolution for 135th
Avenue: As the town has not serviced 135th
Avenue in the past few years, Glenn Meier made the motion to abandon
135th Street which is the road north of 345 th Avenue, which
is in Township 37 north, range 17 west, section 11. The width of said road is 20’
and is 1531 ft long. Scott Wilder seconded the motion. Roll call vote: Simon N,
aye; Glenn M, aye; Scott W, aye. Motion is carried.
New Business

A. Review budget: The clerk
presented the 2017 budget to the board. The budget will be presented to the
public at the budget hearing, Tuesday, November 15 at 6:00 p.m.
Correspondence: WTA
meeting Thursday, October 27 at the Polk County Government Center.
Review bills/vouchers: Supervisors
reviewed bills and approved payment of checks # 16688- 166956 and the ACH
payments totaling $15,595.35.
Next meeting date: November 15, 2016 following
the Public Budget Hearing and Special Town Meeting of the Electors which starts
at 6: 00 pm.
