Town
of West Sweden- Monthly Meeting
April 19, 2016
Meeting was called to order by Simon Nelson at 6:40 pm. Members present
Scott Wilder and Glenn Meier, supervisors; Kevin Taylor, patrolman, Phyllis
Wilder, clerk, and Brenda Tesch,
treasurer. Public: Wm Johnson IV.
The minutes to the March meeting were presented by the clerk. The board thanked the clerk for the report.
The financial statement for March
was presented by the treasurer. The board thanked her for the report.
Public input: Wm Johnson reported that Dean Johansen is new
county board president. Steve Warndahl, Steve Moe, Steve Dorrance, Steve Smith,
Pat Kirkwood have retired from the county. Moe Nerby is new highway
commissioner.
Employee report: Kevin
has done patching on 305th/Old County Rd W. Scott and Kevin attended
MSHA training on April 14th.
Put gravel on Moonlight Auto road. Joe Schommer expressed interest in a
small tract of land owned by West Sweden off 150th Street. Payment for beaver removal was made to Gary
Beecroft and Mike Duncan.
Old Business:
A. Bids for old truck: Received
one bid for old truck. Glenn contacted
Meyers about truck; they are not interested and recommended putting in the WTA
magazine. The one bid was from Scott
Norby offering $3005. Glenn made motion to reject bid and place ad in WTA magazine.
Scott seconded. Carried.
B. Time line for completion of 345th Ave: Blacktop is needed to complete the project.
Kevin will contact Taylor Blacktopping. The
culverts replaced on 325th and 360th last year also need
blacktopping.
C. Approve Zoning resolution: Scott
made the motion to adopt the Polk County Zoning Ordinance, second by Glenn,
roll call vote Aye, Scott, Glenn and Simon. Motion carried.
New Business:
A. Awarded LRIP project: 160th for blacktopping. Need to advertise for bids.
Clerk will get ad in paper.
B. Set date for road inspection:
Tuesday, May 3rd at 9:00 am, board will meet at the town hall. Simon has received proposals from Fahrner and
Scott Construction for road repairs that will be looked at on the
inspection. Glenn made the motion to
have 48 patches at $100 a patch be done by Fahrner, seconded by Scott, carried. This will include 345th Avenue,
140th Street, Clam Falls Drive, and Old W. Discussion was held about different options on
road improvements.
C. Set date for Board of Review:
Tuesday, May 17th, Open Book will be from 3-5 pm at the town hall with
Board of Review from 5-7 pm. And regular monthly board meeting to immediately follow.

Wis DOT is
monitoring a proposed railway that would be from Indiana around Chicago and
into southern Wisconsin.

Received Frederic
Fire Chief’s oath of office.
·
Wisconsin Towns
Association meeting Thursday, April 28 at 7:00 pm at the government center.
·
New habitat house
going up on Benson Road.
Glenn Meier reported that the
Northland Ambulance received a generous donation of $30,000 to purchase a
compression machine.
All bills approved and paid.
Next meeting will be May 17, 2016, following Board of Review at 7 pm.
Motion to adjourn was made by Scott Wilder, 2nd by Glenn
Meier, carried. Time 7:50 pm
