Town of West Sweden- Monthly Meeting

March 20, 2012

Meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.  Present at the meeting Scott Wilder and Glenn Meier, supervisors; Phyllis Wilder, Treasurer and Kevin Taylor, patrolman, and Andrea Lundquist, Clerk.  Simon Nelson, Chairman, was absent.  No residents or onlookers were present.

The minutes of the last meeting were presented by the clerk. No adjustments were recommended. The town board thanked the clerk for the report.

The treasurer presented the monthly report. The town board thanked the treasurer for the report.

Public Input:  none to note

 

Old Business: A. The board members discussed the possible purchase of a long arm mower.  The current options looked at were a Used tractor/mower (John Deere 7330 w/30 foot arm with 1200 hours already = $78,000) or just the arm attachment (23 foot, joystick controlled attachment $34,135).  Our tractor currently has 1750-1800 hours logged.   Kevin will see if there is any possibility to trade in our current mower arm with McKenzie’s. 

Employee Report:

  1. Kevin reported that it would be $1250 to get sweeper for the truck versus $67/hr renting from the county.  Glenn made a motion to buy the attachment for $1250. Scott 2nd the motion.  All in favor, motion carried.
  2. Benson Road is in very poor condition since thaw out.  Kevin plans on digging out the soft spots and filling with gravel and trap rock.  Beer Can Alley (160th Street) is also in poor condition.  Alden Excavating can work with Kevin on the project for $125/hr.  Scott made a motion to hire Alden Excavating for the Benson Road repairs, and Glenn 2nd the motion.  All in favor, motion carried.   
  3. Ronnie will be going the MSHA training on April 10th in Burnett County.

All bills paid and approved.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, April 17th, 2012 at immediately following the annual meeting (at 6:30pm).

Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Glenn, seconded by Scott.  Motion carried. Time was 7:15pm.
