Town of West Sweden-Monthly Meeting

March 16, 2010

Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m. Present at the meeting were Dennis O’Donnell- Chairman, Scott Wilder and Glenn Meier- Supervisors, Phyllis Wilder–Treasurer and Andrea Lundquist-Clerk and Kevin Taylor - Patrolman. There were no other residents present.

The meeting was called to order by Dennis.

The minutes of the last meeting were read by the clerk.

Minutes were received by town board.

The treasurer’s monthly report was presented by Phyllis.

Public Input – Residents have questioned the

Old Business – Board moves to rescind illegal taxes charged to Mary Young on her property parcel id# 048-816-0000 in the amount of $7,164.39. Motion made by Dennis and seconded by Glenn. All in favor. Motion carried. The town will file with the state to get the part of the taxes lost back.

Patrolman/Hwy. Building/Hwy. Report – Kevin took a look at the signs in the town and found that about 75 would need replacing. They run about $100. This issue will be tabled until the road inspections in May or June.

Kevin was asked if the town will be replacing the emergency house number for the town to the “flag” style. The residence may replace them at their own cost through the county.

We will not be posting weight limit signs this year.

Correspondence – Possible liquor license coming up for issuance. Special Meeting may be held to approve before next meeting.

New Business- Discussion on tractor purchase. Glenn presented purchase of John Deere tractor. Purchase price would be $41,900, with possible trade-in of $3,800. Town would need to give 20% down to hold with delivery by May 1^st. Kevin presented rental of tractor from Polk County. Rental would be $98/mowing hour, less if not mowing. County would be responsible for repairs and fuel charges. Rental would be subject to Highway Commissioner approval. Board members also discussed keeping the current tractor and repairing it for extending its longevity. Repairs would include housing repair, possible hydraulic motor repair, and new tires, totaling approximately $6000. Board members will look at the tractor for purchase. Discussion tabled until next meeting.

All bills paid and approved.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, April 20^th, 2010 following the annual meeting.
